There she is!

I have had the wonderful chance to play with a high quality camera this weekend. I am taking care of my photographer friend's camera as she moves. Expect some amateur black and white photos next week if they don't turn out too bad. Photography has always been interesting to me, I just never really understood it as an art form until my best friend majored in it.

On the drawing front, I have been having a debate with myself over my digital inking. I really like strong, bold ink lines. Sometimes though, I forgo the lines and just color a sketch and barely darken the outlines of it with a similar color. Like to the left (yes, more netherdrakes) The image looks smoother, of course. Both styles have their places, I just wonder if I should be doing more of one or the other :)

Quirky Site of the Week:

SamBakZa
A awesome Korean flash animation site. It's in English too, no worries. They created a cute flash movie series called "There She IS!", very much worth checking out. The music, while not in English, is very catchy and the animation is amazing for flash movies.

And that's it for this week. Hope your summers are cooling down like they are here :)

The Artist's Way

I have been struggling a bit with my art the past two weeks as I work on the third book for Jamie. School is approaching fast, so I'm going through the pages and tweaking and redoing them since my PC ate some of the files last week. :) Silly technology.

You'll have to excuse my lack of post last week, I had family down for the weekend. We had a great time bowling and shopping. We also enjoyed our family past time, rummy. Ah yes, good old rummy. Nothing brings out the swearing more than when someone steals the card you wanted right out from under you because you were taking a sip of your soda. =P My not so little cousin has gotten quite good at the game, I was very proud of him! Unfortunately , if my boyfriend doesn't stop winning every hand, my family might not let him play against us anymore, haha!

I wanted to point out a few places today while I have your attention. I have been rereading The Artist's Way some. It helps to motivate those in a slump and gets your creative juices flowing again. Some of it is downright cheesy, but it does have some great advice in there too. I think it's definitely something everyone should have on their shelves, even if you aren't an artist.

Fiends Fridge is a wonderful collection of monster artwork posted by various artists. Very much in the way DeviantArt has let users create galleries for their art, FF lets users create an account explicitly for monster artwork. Ugly and cute, expert and novice, you will find all types here. It's a little different and very fun to browse through.

Quirky Site of the Week:
Fábrica de Heróis
Call it a tribute to Dark Night doing so well in theaters, but I figured we could all use some superhero fun right now. Yes, the site is not in English, but if you scroll down to the bottom, you will see the main attraction. It's a build your own hero maker :) This, my friends, is truly fun. You can make your favorite existing hero or your own imaginary one. It's very much in the style of the new Justice League cartoon, just to give you a heads up.

So have fun! Post some monster pictures, make a superhero, and eat some cake for me ok? Have a good week!

Fluff bunnies and ink blots

Well, Jamie's project is up and running now. It's called the Teachable Method, teaching aids for kindergarten teachers. You should go check it out, they are super cute and very inexpensive. Plus she has some freebies up if you want a small sample.

I have been spending most of my time working with her on this project. It means a lot to her, and it's quite fun to draw for! I also have been working on some more Warcraft art, mainly a badge of sorts for a friend of mine. He is going to Gen-con in August and is judging the WoW:TCG games, so I figured a Warcraft badge would suit him well.

Aside from business, I found another awesome monster artist that deserves some attention. He does The Daily Monster. He starts out with an ink blob ad creates absolutely awesome monsters with them. He also has some of his previous blobs up for fans to create their own monsters out of. You can send them in and he will post them. You should take a look :)

Happy Father's Day

To all the fathers out there :)

Today I am working on the second part of Jamie's project. I still have one page to get done on the last one, but it was driving me crazy! I decided I would move on till tomorrow so as not to mess it up in my frustrations. The plus side is that I'm making many many cute brushes for Photoshop, something I had never done before.

I got Illustrator, well the trial anyway, so I decided to play around in it some. I am a big fan of the Nertherdrakes in World of Warcraft, so I cleaned up a previous sketch I did one a head shot. I think it turned out nicely. :)

Netherdrakes belong to Blizzard Entertainment of course. All art is mine however :)

I need to draw a picture for the blog design. Not caring much for all these premade ones.

Finished page 2 of Jamie's project as well as one of the stamps. Working on page 3 right now. Things are going a lot slower than I care for, but I'm sure it will pick up when I get used to it. Everything is turning out super cute, so I'm happy on that note. :) I'm going to try and pick up a copy of Illustrator in the next couple days to make my life easier for some of this as well.

Ah! I suppose this is a welcome more serious blogging. (if there is such a thing, hehe)

I'll adjust the layout to something more suitable tomorrow. I just figured I would post a little something to say hello! *waves*
